DESTINATIONS near MAMMOTH
The June Lake Loop is a short 20 minute drive north of Mammoth Lakes. This sixteen mile detour west of Highway 395 passes by June Lake and others that are all excellent for trout fishing and surrounded by peaks of the Sierra Nevada main crest. Just a few miles farther north along Hwy. 395 is the Tioga Pass Road. It is the eastern entry to Yosemite National Park. Crossing the main crest at about 10,000 ft. altitude, this road traverses the high mountain country of Tuolumne Meadows before descending to the spectacular Yosemite Valley. Continuing somewhat farther north, Hwy. 395 reaches Bridgeport, the quaint County Seat for Mono County. The Sierra's Sawtooth Ridge and Matterhorn Peak provide a beautiful backdrop for the large expanses of cattle grazing land surrounding Bridgeport.
